Heavy Duty Capacity
The XLA™ 9 handles loads of over 3,500 lbs Static, 2,300 pounds Dynamic based upon 2 million inches of travel. Assembled with SMI™ unique Rigid Plus™ base, the XLA™ 9 provides the user with a solid mounting structure capable of handling large loads without deflection.
The XLA™ 9 is only 3.75” wide and 1.99” tall. All Components used are designed with keeping the foot print small and the capacities large.
Moment Load Compensation™Moment Load Compensation™ negates the effects of applied moments of inertia, instead making offset loads into an equivalent vertical load. Moment Load Compensation™ makes slide life easily calculable and consistent.
Speed and Travel
The XLA™ 9 can achieve speeds of up to 6" per second with a standard motor and ball screw. Lead screws will allow speeds of up to 60" per second. Faster speed or greater positional accuracies can be achieved with SMI™ engineering assistance. The XLA™ 9 can be delivered as a single unit with travel lengths up to 45".
The XLA™ 9 is built using SMI™ Rigid Plus™ extrusion designed to allow exceptional structural strength even when used without support. The XLA™ series was seen as a solution to cross axis applications where the Rigid Plus™ extrusion would enable the XLA™ 9 to become a structural member without the need for expensive base mounting structures. This Feature makes the XLA perfect for a cross axis (Y Axis) on a gantry application.
All XLA™ series products incorporate a t-slot channel along the full length of the base. This bilateral channel allows for quick and easy adjustment for limit switches and/or other peripheral add-ons. The channels available on the underside of the base are configured in such a way to allow for simple mounting in an XY configuration.
Multiple axis units can be easily joined without the need for additional mounting plates. The mounting holes in the XLA™ carriage match mounting holes in the XLA™ base.
The XLA™ can be mounted in XY and Z configurations with the SMI™ optional Z bracket.

The XLA™ 9 incorporates an anodized 6061-T6 aluminum base and components, stainless steel ball screw, stainless steel profile guide rails (with wipers), shielded and sealed end support bearings making the XLA™ 9 perfect for those not so perfect environments. Also available as optional items are way covers and submersible stepper motors.
