Specialty Motions offers a variety of linear actuators from the top industry manufacturers such as Rollon, Thomson, NSK, IKO, and NB. As an added value, Specialty Motions also manufactures its own line of SMI linear actuators incorporating the latest innovations and technologies from our industry to provide high load capacity, precision and repeatability at an affordable and economical cost.
Linear Actuators from Specialty Motions are categorized by their method of traverse.
Profile Rail (XLA Series, MP Series) - actuators utilize profile rails as the weight bearing members allowing for excellent straightness and load carrying capability.
Round Rail (Supported Systems) - products typically use Thomson shafting and matching ball bushings for motion with minimal friction during travel. Load capability of such products is usually excellent with very good straightness of travel. Butt joining of shafting allows for virtually unlimited travel lengths.
Sliding Elements (Slick Stick, ECO Series, Twinlite)- provide benefit in harsh environments and in applications requiring virtually no maintenance. These products are typically less expensive than Profile Rail and Round Rail systems, but lack the load carrying capability and the straightness achieved with those stage types.
Short Travel Actuators (XTreme, CMA) - containing Rolling Elements derive their efficiency from either ball bearings or cross-roller bearings to handle load. In this category you will typically find products that exhibit good to very good straightness and moderate load carrying capability.

As an added value, Specialty Motions has made ordering a complete linear motion system easy. If you know how you want to control your stage, whether via foot pedal, joystick, HMI, wireless control or any of our other user interfaces, and you know the load capacity and travel length you need, there is no need to worry about anything else. Simply contact our in-house engineers and will define the correct linear actuator, driver, power supply and wire the entire system for you as a fully integrated plug and play system. It is that easy.
